Product Description Calphalon?'s Tri-Ply combines the best qualities of stainless steel and aluminum cookware! It incorporates the beauty of a mirror-polished, 18/10 stainless steel exterior with the superior conductivity and performance of a permanently bonded, heavy gauge aluminum core. Designed for comfort with a flared rim, ergonomic cool "V" handle and a domed, tempered glass cover. Stainless interior is nonreactive to foods, so your recipes taste better. Best of all ? Tri-Ply cookware is completely dishwasher safe! Manufacturer's lifetime warranty.
Amazon.com Review With aluminum cores enclosed by stainless-steel layers, Calphalon's Tri-Ply pots and pans deliver the attributes of both metals. The aluminum cores conduct heat quickly and uniformly across the pots and pans' bottoms and all the way up their sides. The durable, 18/10 stainless-steel interiors and exteriors are easy to clean, resist scratching, denting, warping, and corrosion, and are nonreactive to acidic food. This 3-quart, round-sided chef's pan has a domed, glass lid so cooking can be monitored without releasing heat. The lid is oven-safe to 450 degrees F, ensuring the pan not only can be used atop the stove for sauces, deep-frying, and stir-frying but can go into the oven for braising and stewing. The handle stays cool on the stovetop. The pan's rim is flared to facilitate dripless pouring. Tri-Ply cookware is polished to mirror-finish outside for beauty and wears a satin-finish inside to conceal inevitable utensil marks. It goes safely into the dishwasher, although hand washing better preserves the mirror-finish, and carries a lifetime warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

love this skillet May 3, 2010 Herbalist (tennessee) love this skillet. It's nice & thick, even cooking, and stainless where the food is cooked. Nice, Nice! Love the lid with it too. It's oven safe- up to 350 degrees or so.
Very Pleased February 11, 2010 Mary Mc (Hartsville, SC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Totally pleased with this pan. Highly recommend it. Heats evenly. Doesn't scorch easily. Makes whisking sauces a breeze. We've even used it for grits (we are in the SOUTH). This is my first Calphalon Tri-Ply and I will be adding others to our kitchen.
Great pan but too small of handle & bad rivet placement January 25, 2010 Mark Turpin (St. Louis, MO) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Overall, another nice addition to the Calphalon collection at my house.
I'm disappointed by the size of the handle and the placement of the rivets. I read another review about the rivets, but unfortunately I read it after I'd already purchased it. The rivets definitely get in the way and collect pieces of food. However, it isn't bad enough for me to return it. Just a word of warning for others.
Second, the handle is just plain small. I don't have big hands... This handle just doesn't provide me the security I'm looking for when I'm transferring water from the sink to the stove, for instance.
Lastly and probably unrelated to the manufacturer and more the seller - the condition of the rim was less than stellar. This product almost seemed used because there are visible pits in the rim of the pan. Again, I really wanted this pan and am just a bit too lazy to bother sending it back over imperfections that won't affect my food.
Not So Great For Calphalon ..... December 17, 2009 Razzierb (Virginia) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have more than a few Caphalon pots and pans in my cookware group ... This one is pretty, but not very efficient. Likely due to shape, since it has less pan bottom on the stove burner than other designs of the same capacity, but it takes WAAAYYY to long to bring a half pot of water to boil (that's even with using the very high quality glass lid on the pot).
I'm a bit disappointed with this one. First time I've said that about a Caphalon product. I'm still giving it a 3 since it maintained a boil (with lid) on very low heat. It's just that attaining the boil is not up to the Caphalon standards I'm used to.
The most usefull pan in my kitchen December 14, 2009 R. Poole I've owned this piece for about 3 or 4 years now and it has had plenty of use. Everything from cooking pasta for one to making a batch of sausage gravy, tomato sauce, or a larger amount of rice, and the lid is heavy enough so you can braise or stew in it. The tri-ply construction means no hot spots, and it's easy to clean in the dishwasher (unlike anodized cookware which I'll never buy again). Where it really shines though is sauce making. The sloped sides make it easier to get a whisk into every part of the pan. The chef's skillet is much better at this than a traditional saucepan.
