Amazon.com Review
Protect your hands from hot pot handles with this slip-on handle mitt. From Lodge, maker of rugged cast-iron cookware, the mitt features heavy-duty Pyrotex fabric on the exterior, along with a scorch-proof coating. Inside, a thick terry lining feels comfortable against the skin, and thick cotton batting between the two layers adds further heat and steam protection. Heat-resistant up to 450 degrees F, the Max Temp mitt fits over stainless or cast-iron handles, indoors or at the barbecue, and comes in basic black to match any décor. --Ann Bieri

5 out of 5 stars MUST HAVE ITEM   September 3, 2010
A. Jackson Plauche (TENNESSEE)
This is a great addition to iron skillet cooking. I know a hot pad works just as well, however, this little item is neat, I just leave it on the handle of my skillet so it is always there for my protection against burning my hand on a hot skillet handle.

1 out of 5 stars Poor durability   August 22, 2010

I purchased this product to use along with my new Lodge cast-iron skillet. During the last three weeks, I've used the mitt on exactly six occasions. Because the mitt heats up if left on the handle of the skillet, I've been careful to remove it after each use. Yet the mitt is already falling apart--there are numerous cracks in the fabric and the stuffing has become exposed, despite extremely light usage.

I do not recommend this product.

5 out of 5 stars Good Value   August 15, 2010

This mitt works very well. It's far less awkward to use it than to try using an oven mitt. I'm happy with the product.

4 out of 5 stars Works, but can still get pretty warm   August 9, 2010

I purchased this along with the Lodge Logic 12-Inch Pre-Seasoned Skillet, and took it along on a recent camping trip. This is probably not the greatest option for campfire cooking - while we could certainly use it to move the skillet from the fire to the table, it got pretty hot and we often this along with a heavy leather glove.

Unfortunately, I was not able to test it during regular kitchen use, as one of the other campers accidentally left it on the pan handle when it was over the fire and burned away chunk of the mitt. I've not replaced it yet, but when I do, I'll probably go with something different.

5 out of 5 stars Works as advertised   July 12, 2010
Rodger Manecke (Cinebar, WA USA)
After a few weeks of daily use with cast iron skilets, I decided the handle mitt is a keeper. Handier than reaching for a pot holder. I leave it on the pan all the time using a glass top electric stove.
