Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Endorsed by none other than the legendary French chef Paul Bocuse (the only restaurateur in the world to be awarded the prestigious Michelin 3 Stars for over 36 consecutive years), Cuisinart's Chef's Classic stainless cookware is high quality, yet affordable. Unlike many lines of cookware, it can go in the dishwasher for clean up, yet the aluminum core within the base provides even and efficient heating. If you've been thinking of investing in a new set of pots and pans, you'd do well to consider Cuisinart Chef's Classic. This set offers pieces in a useful range of size and function, and with the added value of set pricing.

Amazon.com Review
Sautéing wild salmon and stirring a perfect risotto take on spiritual dimensions with this classic Cuisinart cookware. Made of professional quality 18/10 stainless steel that won't react with acidic foods, the pots and pans in this set feature solid cast handles, tight-fitting lids with drip-free rims, and a mirror finish that retains its brightness through dishwasher, freezer, broiler, and oven use up to 550 degrees Fahrenheit. For superior, even heating, an aluminum disk is encapsulated between two layers of stainless steel in each base. The set includes: 8- and 10-inch skillets, 1-1/2- and 3-quart covered saucepans, 3-1/2-quart covered sauté pan, and a 8-quart covered stockpot. Cuisinart covers the set with a limited lifetime warranty. --Ann Bieri

5 out of 5 stars Made my own Set   March 1, 2010

I almost bought this set. But then I realized that some of these pieces weren't that useful for me. The 1.5 quart saucepan seems too small. I don't really know what to do with a saute pan and I already have a small iron skillet.

With Amazon's 4 for 3 promotion I made my own set for the same price. Look for "Special Offers Available" just below the price at the top of the page for each pan.

Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless 3-Quart Chef's Pan with Cover
Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless 6-Quart Sauce Pot with Lid
Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless 10-Inch Open Skillet
Cuisinart Chef's Classic 12-Inch Stainless Everyday Pan with Dome Cover

The lids from the 3-quart and 6-quart pans fit the 10-inch skillet.

The cookware is wonderful. It heats evenly and cleans up easily. No more flaky teflon-coated pans for me.

5 out of 5 stars awesome set of pans   February 26, 2010

I purchased this set over a year ago and I still love them. I'll never go back to non-stick pans. Stainless steel is the way to go. I have no problems cooking in these pans. They are also easy to clean. Remember to preheat the fry pan before adding the oil. Then let the oil heat up. I don't have a problem with food sticking most of the time. When I do have item sticking to the bottom cleanup is easy. I just add water to the pan heat it up and use a spatula to scrape off the burnt stuff from the pan.

an excellent value. I didn't want to get non-stick because I don't have a dishwasher, and I'm pretty rough on my dishes when I wash them by hand. that being said, these pots and pans are solid. for anyone who isn't a professional chef, these will do just fine for most cooking purposes. I use them everyday and they have performed beautifully so far. as the manufacturer says, don't use excessively high heat. short of that, they'll take anything you throw at them.

5 out of 5 stars Stainless steel - the best of the best cookware   February 20, 2010

Stainless steel is the way to go for anyone that cooks a lot or a little. It beats everything from teflon to aluminum for ease of cooking and uniform heating. I can't believe I hadn't tried this sooner. Also, for those who are interested in less chemicals in your cooked foods, this is the only way to go - nothing gets transferred from the cooking surface into your cooked foods. Teflon is for those in our society who don't know any better (it's a manmade substance created from toxic chemicals and transfers into the food during cooking) and aluminum in your diet causes alzheimers. If there is a downside, cleanup would be it. You can put this cookware through the dishwasher but I've been much more satisfied with the cleanup if hand washed. To keep the cooking surface of the pot or pan bright and clean, I use around one tablespoon of baking soda, one small squirt of liquid dish soap, and a little warm water. Using a soft sponge just mix it up in the bottom, rub it around for a moment and the surface is back to perfect. It's no exact measurements, just a little of all. If it sounds like too much trouble, my opinion is the exchange for the excellence in cookware is worth it. Also, if you have a ceramic cook-top surface, this is the way to go as the bottoms of the cookware are machined surfaces and completely flat, as well as stainless steel is number one recommended by the manufacturer of our stove.
