Timer feature is limited August 11, 2010 Allele (Boston, MA USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I should start by saying that I have not used the thermometer itself yet, and so I assume that it will work as described, but I was disappointed to learn that the timer cannot count up. If the thermometer probe breaks, I would be hesitant about paying $10 for a replacement probe so it would be nice to be able to use it as a stand-alone timer that could count up as well as down.
The panclip that I received did not look like the one pictured. It looked like this one here, as shown on the company's website: [...]. At first I could not insert the probe into both holes, leading me to believe that I had received a defective clip. Several emails later, I find out that I had to bend it a bit myself to make it fit. The panclip design itself is not the most efficient. You would have to insert it carefully on your cookware to avoid scratching it.
By the way, this product also lacks the following features, which I knew about before I bought the product, but it might be more important for others shopping for a cooking thermometer: an off-switch, multiple timers, ability to control the seconds, and the ability to detect a decrease to the desired temperature.
great little tool August 9, 2010 Charles I have used this nice little digital probe thermometer several times since receiving it and I have been pleased with the performance. I used the temperature alarm to alert me when the oven has reached the point I set ti for on the dial/needed by the recipe, and for telling me the internal temperature of the roasts and things I cook. It is easy to use even without reading the instructions. I especially like that I am not limited to pre-set temperatures for my meats. I highly recommend this thermometer.
No problems yet! August 5, 2010 mg (USA) I've used it once so far and I'm very pleased. A temperature alarm as well as a timer. I used both and they worked as advertised.
so glad i bought this July 31, 2010 Nancy Tropkoff (cleveland ohio) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was going to buy the one thermometer that America's test kitchen suggested. Then With more reading I found that the same manufacturer makes both brands...so heck with it, I bought this for five bucks cheaper. I had been wanting one of these for quite awhile. It makes it easy to do bread, to make roasts..etc. I used it to alert me when my scalded milk cooled down. This thermometer is worth it. I think it was reasonably priced as well. Just be careful with the cord. Any cord will get damaged if you don't be careful with it. I rinsed out a glass jar, from spaghetti and I stick the thermometer in there.

Very good product. I use it primarily for grilling. Although they say not to, I leave the probe in while cooking so I can be alerted at the right time. It is the secret to tender steaks even if you like them well done. Also a good rub makes all the difference.
