Product Description Stainless Steel Vegetable Steamer Expands from 7" to 10"
Amazon.com Review It's less what it includes than what it lacks that makes this Norpro vegetable steamer a cut above your average steamer insert. Without a bothersome center post, there is plenty of unobstructed room to steam entire heads of broccoli or cauliflower or full-length cobs of corn--and finished vegetables are easier to remove with a spoon or a spatula as denser veggies keep steaming. No need to slice carrots or pole beans beforehand--just plop them whole into the basket, which expands from 7 to 10 inches, depending on the size of the pot you set it in. The three-pronged base provides stability equal to models with center posts, but instead of one central handle there are two ring-style side handles. This is another improvement, as you don't need to reach into the middle of the steaming-hot food to remove the basket, and using the side handles supports the basket's shape rather than allowing its "petals" to pop open flat upon lifting. The heavy-duty waffled segments hold tightly together during use and fold inward for compact storage. --Carol Gnojewski

one star because it arrived... September 7, 2010 Robert L. Simon (jersey) fell apart first week ...have another with post which has lasted for many years ...don't get this one...
You get what you pay for... August 19, 2009 J. Peirce (Concord, CA USA) I've owned one of these things for a while now. After about four months both the rings had broken and are now long gone. Some of its crevices are a pain to clean. It has three metal rivets on the surface which are pretty much impossible to clean, and will start to change color with time. It stands on three un-capped metal feet which can scrape or scratch pans. It has served its purpose, but I won't be buying again.
Decent steamer but not incredibly durable and a little big June 21, 2009 Lev Malevanchik Positives
- Because it is big, you can put a lot of veggies in this, more than others. No center post also helps.
Negatives
- Because it is big, it doesn't fit in all pots.
- The metal pieces sometimes fall off, although it is easy to put them back on.
Overall, it works. It is what it is and nothing more. I didn't see anything all that much better anywhere else.

Purchased this several months ago. I like the size and looks of it. But it is falling apart after 3-4 months. My prior one lasted at least 10-15 years. Thus if you want one to last pay the extra money. This one will last about 3-6months if you are lucky. The 'petals' ar just crimped in and start to fall off after 6-8 uses.

I've only used the steamer a few times, and one of the legs fell off.
